The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors who are delivering training services to vocational learners and assessment services to candidates. This qualification meets the minimum education requirement for trainers and assessors operating without supervision under applicable VET legislation, frameworks and standards.
Achievement of this qualification for VET Trainers and Assessors is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
This qualification supersedes TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Those entering this course must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.

Face-to-Face
Face-to-face training for this course is delivered over 13 days and in two clusters, Training and Assessing. Each cluster is required to be completed in order. However, attendance can be split over numerous courses.
Trainwest recommends no more than a two-to-three-month gap to maintain momentum. The clusters are there for flexibility with attendance. This means the course fees cannot be split based on the clustered attendance.

Video Conferencing
Students have the option of attending the face-to-face course, or part of it, via video conferencing technology in the form of Microsoft Teams. Students are required to have a computer with access to the Internet.

This qualification can be customised to suit the student’s organisation and delivered in a flexible format to suit their workplace requirements.

This course is competency-based. Students have assessments to complete externally in the training room, providing evidence that they have understood the training and have applied it to the workplace. This requirement means that it is not possible to complete all the assessment requirements during face-to-face training.
Students are required to complete assessment tasks for each module which typically include:
Canvas, a web-based learning management system, is used throughout the course. Students can access their learning resources and project templates at any time, as well as complete their assessments, including answering knowledge questions and submitting projects.
Students have up to 12 months to submit their assessments. Please be aware that this is a maximum time frame and is greatly dependent on the current job role and pre-existing skills and abilities of the student.
Students can submit their assessments at any time after attending the face-to-face component. The actual time for completion varies between students.
The volume of learning for a Certificate IV qualification is typically six months to two years.

We strongly recommend that students familiarise themselves with the YouTube videos provided in the Pre-existing Skills and Knowledge Checklist prior to attending the course.
Trainwest provides ongoing support to students throughout the course via email and telephone.
We offer post-course support workshops at no additional charge. This provides students with the opportunity to have time away from the workplace to work on assessments with the support from a Trainwest Trainer and Assessor.
Students have access to 60 minutes of one-on-one coaching, free of charge. Additional one-on-one coaching is available at an hourly rate for those who need it.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for this qualification. RPL is an assessment-based pathway, suitable for those who already have the skills and knowledge in one or more of the areas that make up the qualification and do not wish to undergo further training.
For those considering RPL please speak with our Student Services Team. They will make an initial assessment of suitability and discuss the RPL process before sending an application kit.
Trainwest recognises qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Students who have previously completed any nationally accredited training may include their certificates and transcripts with their enrolment application for credit review.
Upon completion of individual units of competency, students will receive a Statement of Attainment, which is a progression toward the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Upon successful completion of all units of competency, students will receive the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. This includes a testamur and record of results.
