Clare

Program Manager

Training Coordinator

Biography

Clare joined the Trainwest Team in 2016 to initially support the Partnership Program.

With the changes and updates to the Training and Assessment qualification, Clare became invaluable in supporting the transition process and providing information to our clients and industry.

With her previous experience as a Business Trainer and Assessor, Clare coordinates the Prison Program and is an assessor for qualifications in the Business Services Training Package. She facilitates our compliance meetings and is an integral part in our quality assurance system.

Clare supports students and employees at Trainwest with course management, enrolments and facilitates inhouse courses. She has a passion for quality, continuous improvement and in supporting people to identify and achieve their goals. She is focused on the student experience, supporting her colleagues and students and being the best at what we do.

Trainwest consistently receives positive feedback on Clare’s professionalism, knowledge and quality of the service she provides. Trainwest is very proud to have her as part of our team.

Mark - Training Specialist

Mark Shankland

Training Specialist

Biography

Mark is a career trainer with over 20 years’ experience in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Responsible for training and assessing; Leadership and Management, Training, Assessment and Education, Work Health & Safety, Human Resources and Business Services courses Marks depth of knowledge and acquired skills are well supported by his relevant academic qualifications and outlook to continually improve.

Having held positions as a Senior Police Trainer, a Training Consultant, a Membership and Regional Manager and as an RTO Compliance Manager, Mark brings with him a thorough portfolio of techniques, strategies and practical tools to ensure his role as a coach, a mentor, a trainer and an assessor meet the needs of his students and corporate clients.

Mark’s genuine approach to training and education is infectious, he buys in with his students and prides himself on their success. Marks flexibility and versatility can be put down to his exposure to both corporate and public students within the construction, manufacturing, mining and resources, health, hospitality and public safety sectors.

Peta Sanderson

Training Specialist

Biography

Peta has extensive experience of the Training and Education Sector, having worked for over 25 years in teaching, research and management roles in university and other education settings in Australia, Southeast Asia and the USA.

Her role as a Training Specialist at Trainwest includes training and assessment of the TAE Training Package products, as well as assessment and development of resources to support targeted adult literacy programs in Indigenous communities.

Peta also has extensive experience in the leadership of global partnerships, strategy setting and policy development work, as well as in relation to Indigenous employment and education initiatives. Significant achievements include receiving a citation from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning and being a recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Initiatives that Enhance Student Learning (Excellence in Educational Partnerships and Collaborations).

Peta is a graduate and active member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is currently Chair of Penrhos College Council.

Josiah

Josiah Farrelly (Joe) AFAIM

Training Specialist

Biography

Joe has a deep connection with the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector with extensive experience working with TAFE NSW and private Perth-based Registered Training Organisations serving both local and international learners. His role as Training Specialist involves training and assessing learners as well as providing industry and course advice.

Joe has spent the last 31 years working in the VET sector in various roles from training and curriculum development to educational administration and management. Prior to that he worked as a chef and caterer in the hospitality industry.

Remaining in VET gives him the option to pursue his interest in teaching prospective trainers and to work with local students in order to support the Western Australian community. Joe has learned much about training and assessment during his career and enjoys passing on his passion for these same skills to his learners at Trainwest.

Jasmine

Jasmine Coleman

Biography

Jasmine joined the Trainwest team in October 2020 and has over 5 years’ experience working in administrative roles which has allowed her to acquire skills that make her a valuable team member. 

Jasmine achieved the certificate IV in Business at Central TAFE, Perth, and has experience using applications such as; Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, MYOB, BGL, CAS, Xero, Now Infinity, HowNow Practice Manager and many others. Working in such highly demanding roles has provided her with the tools to further her career with Trainwest. Jasmine also has experience liaising with ASIC, Global X, The Department of Transport, the Australian Taxation Office and numerous other suppliers and property managers which makes Jasmine a great all-rounder who understands the importance of providing exceptional support and customer service to our clients and the team.

Sally Kinninmont

Student Services

Biography

Sally has a Hospitality background completing her Apprenticeship and receiving a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. She has catered at events such as the Football, Basketball and the Hopman Cup and also received title of Chef De Partie at the Qantas Business Lounges and Chairmans Lounge. Sally started working for Trainwest at the end of January where she has started her traineeship in BSB30120 Certificate III in Business within the Student Services team. Sally loves interacting with students and looks forward to developing her knowledge about the Training and Assessment course.

Diana Nguyen-Ha

Biography

Diana specialises in delivering the Certificate IV TAE course for Trainwest. Diana has been in the education sector for over 10 years and recently focusing on adult education and training. Having worked in various career roles and industries, Diana is able to be flexible and adaptable to the different students that come to Trainwest.

Diana has honed the skill in building rapport with her students to maximise learning engagement and productivity in the training room and post-training delivery. Diana prides herself in ensuring students uphold a high standard in the workplace, when becoming a Trainer and assessor.

Mary Nield

Training Specialist

Biography

 Mary has been working in the VET sector since 1998. She has owned and operated her own training company, and previous positions have included audit/compliance management, instructional design, change management, teaching, and career pathway development. Since 2004, she has trained and assessed the TAA and both TAE 10 and 16 packages including upgrade units. She has vast experience in people development and change management; and has loads of experience in supporting clients to find their career pathway including indigenous, disengaged youth, and people identified with a disability and long-term unemployed using various modes of delivery including Zoom, Teams, Google meetings, face to face and via telephone. She has taught and written material for various online Learning Management Systems including Moodle, Catapult, Canvas, Futura and Didasko. She has also developed various resources for LMS from differing training packages including, rural operations, construction, business, hospitality, retail, WHS, community services at various AQF levels.

Jade joined the Trainwest team in 2023 and brings with her over 14 years’ experience in Customer Service and Administration roles. She is passionate about helping others which contributes to her friendly manner when liaising with clients and the Trainwest Team.

Justine

Justine Wood

Training Specialist

Biography

Justine joined the Trainwest Team in 2023 to become a TAE Trainer and Assessor, a goal she has had since completing her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Justine recently Completed her Dual Diplomas in Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Training Design and Development to develop her skills, knowledge and to gain the qualification necessary to reach her goal.

Justine comes to Trainwest with several years’ experience as a First Aid Trainer, including the delivery of accredited and non-accredited courses with a focus on First aid in workplace and community settings. Justine was involved in First aid kit and AED sales and service, before moving into First aid training.

Prior to becoming a VET Practitioner Justine had a career in on-road sales, mainly in the Dental industry; capital equipment and consumables.

Having a lifelong love of learning, Justine is passionate about guiding others in their education to help develop themselves and their careers. She hopes her students enjoy the journey into the VET world as much as she has.

Marjorie Anne Dela Cruz

Marjorie Anne Dela Cruz

Biography

Marjorie has more than 10 years of extensive background in the education sector, with 4 years in language instruction and 7 years in adult education and training. She has a considerable amount of experience in team management, critical problem solving, curriculum planning, conflict resolution, intensive course facilitation, learning and development and training/assessment compliance in the Training and Education Industry.

Previous roles include working as a Training Group Coordinator, Senior TAE Course Facilitator, Subject Matter Expert, Senior TAE (Diploma and Certificate IV) and TESOL Assessor, TAE RPL Specialist, Office Coordinator, Executive Assistant, Course Resource Validator and Learning and Development Specialist.

Having completed a diploma in TAE, accumulated years of training experience, and taking part in numerous audit and compliance activities allowed her to gain an extensive range of knowledge and skills in evaluating course content and contributing to its further development.

Handling a group of highly competent trainers and complex student scenarios has also solidified her capabilities in achieving team and organisational aspirations. Continuous growth in all aspects of the VET industry remains her passion.

Bianca has extensive background on both children and adults training and education for 9 years with knowledge and skills in teaching various primary and secondary subjects and in developing and facilitating adult trainings focused on Training and Assessment course/s. Highly regarded and accomplished Trainer and Assessor and Team Lead professional with managerial experience in the VET sector, she has considerable experience in standard and RPL assessments, delivering individual and group training sessions, team management, project management, escalation resolution, learning and development, design and development of learning resources and assessment tools.

Theresa Libres

Biography

With her 10 years of experience on both the formal education setting and the training and development sector, Theresa or “Iya” shares her passion in educating minds and touching hearts.

She has 5 years of experience as a trainer and assessor in TAE course/s and have had considerable involvement in facilitating moderation and validation meetings. Prior to joining Trainwest in 2024, Theresa worked as a Quality Assurance Officer for e-learning resources, online learning assessments and the LMS (Moodle) where she evaluated quality products for industry compliance. With her experience in the VET sector, she aims to continuously provide quality assessments and guidance to students to help them attain respective qualifications and secure their dream roles.

Theresa is a goal-oriented and passionate educator who values fairness, positivity and equity for everyone.  She does enjoy a balance of relaxation time and her pursuit for professional growth and development.

Angeli Encornal

Biography

Angeli joined the Trainwest team in October 2023, bringing a wealth of experience in training and assessment. Her role focuses on assessing TAE submissions, participating in validation and moderation, and designing and developing learning resources that align with industry standards.

Prior to joining Trainwest, Angeli served as a Learning and Development Coordinator, where she managed a team of internal trainers, conducted Training Needs Analysis, and played a key role in designing and delivering comprehensive training programs.

With previous experience as a Training Coordinator and Lead Trainer, Angeli has been responsible for managing, coaching, mentoring TAE trainers and assessors. She also has a background as an ESL instructor, teaching English to international students and providing personalised support through detailed reporting.

Angeli is committed to fostering growth and continuous improvement within the training industry. Her dedication to quality, student support, and professional development makes her a valuable asset to the Trainwest team.

Kate Padit

Biography

Kate has joined Trainwest and became part of the Student Services Team in 2023. She has over 13 years of diverse and relevant experience in Customer Service-oriented tasks, Technical Support, Business Marketing Maintenance, Quality Assurance Analysis, and Virtual Administrative/Executive Assistance roles.

Those years of experience have taught her to be adaptive, solutions oriented, and to always ensure qualitative work is being delivered. She’s always passionate about learning more and sees learning as anything that’s value-adding to oneself, hence, could benefit others in effect. She’s happy to help and feels some sense of satisfaction whenever she’s able to address/resolve concerns, which says a lot about her problem-solving character and gives her the advantage in her role.

Natalie Cussell

Biography

Natalie is passionate about the delivery of quality training, across all aspects of workplace health and safety.  As a certified OHS Professional, Natalie draws on her many years of experience from a range of industry backgrounds to deliver engaging and well-rounded training.

Her role as a Trainer includes the delivery of accredited and non-accredited courses with a focus on safety and risk, as well as supporting the service delivery capabilities of the Trainwest Safety Institute.

Natalie has experience delivering and assessing nationally recognised and non-accredited training to learners, who come from a broad range of industries and backgrounds. Natalie also has extensive experience creating and developing tools and materials that are used as part of learning and development programs and integrated management systems.

Significant achievements include the development and implementation of an Integrated Management System, that received certification to International and Australian Standards.

Natalie is also an active member of the Safety Institute of Australia.

Rae Hilhorst

Rae is a dedicated trainer, having worked in the VET Sector for over 20 years, delivering Certificate IV and Diploma of Leadership and Management.

For 13 of those years, Rae has shifted her focus to providing Workplace Health and Safety training. Empower workers with the knowledge and skills to implement, monitor and maintain a safe workplace and practices.

Rae proactively engages and supports her audience in understanding workplace health and safety requirements to help management and workers meet their compliance obligations and has worked alongside and trained in a wide range of industries and diverse groups. Both regional and metro.

Biography

Clive has an extensive background with over 20 years’ experience in the mining, construction, education, and major hazardous facilities.   Instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing relevant training programs for industry requirements as well as having a proven record in providing quality services to clients, industry, communities and government.  He has considerable experience in risk management, safety, adult education, facilitation, leadership, coaching, team building and organisational development.

In previous roles Clive has worked for various Registered Training Organisations including TAFE.  As a Senior Risk Management consultant, he worked throughout Australia and Indonesia for client companies. 

This included facilitation of major risk assessments, high risk incident investigations including fatalities, development and delivery of training courses for clients, process mapping and systems improvement.

Jenny Woodgate

Biography

Jenny is an outgoing, passionate person who is determined to make a difference in all aspects of workplace health and safety. As an experienced safety advisor Jenny brings practicality to the training room coupled with knowledge from a broad range of industries to engage and inspire. Jenny has a safety background of 6 years’ experience in government and mining.

Her role as Training Specialist includes the delivery of accredited and non-accredited courses with a focus on safety and risk and risk management.

In previous roles Jenny has both developed and implemented a suite of safety policies and procedures, implemented safety strategies, facilitated safety focus sessions and presented training to a wide range of stakeholders.

Skills honed during her working career include risk management, injury management, dealing with the difficult, emotional intelligence, policy and procedure development, project management, communication and negotiation, quality assurance and legislative interpretation and application.

Craig Adair

Craig Adair

Biography

Craig has an extensive background with over 25 years’ experience in the mining, education, and private safety roles. He has considerable experience in team management, learning and development, analysis, investigations, and risk assessment.

Craig has worked as a health and safety trainer for various registered training organisations over his long career in the private sector as well as undertaking field supervisor roles in a number in various mining exploration companies. He has also worked as a presenter educating children and training indigenous youth.

Skills learnt during his working career include compliance, WHS risk management, aboriginal liaison, conflict resolution, WHS leadership in various industries including mining, hospitality, and aquaculture.

Louise Bainbridge

Louise Bainbridge

Biography

Louise is an outgoing, passionate trainer with a sound knowledge of training deliverables, compliance, and competency requirements.  Louise has a keen interest in facilitating change and presenting with passion, flare, and empathy.

Her personal vision and values incorporate her passion and excitement for adult learning and making that difference in someone’s life by introducing them to a new idea or concept.

Louise has worked in Training, Learning and Development in various industries, including mining, oil and gas, construction, rail, and engineering.

Louise is a council member for the Australian Institute of Training and Development where she contributes to the advancement and recognition of the training and development profession, with the mission to be part of the team that leads a change in the way industry looks at developing people.

Louise has delivered accredited training for RTO’s and Enterprise non-accredited training for organisations, creating and customising leadership training to facilitate the gap between worker to Supervisor.  She is a strong advocate for the Safety Differently Theory (Safety II) and enjoys challenging people to think differently about safety.

Samantha Lena

Sam Lena

Biography

Sam has a background in gold mining operations with experience in delivery and assessment of operational safe systems of work, critical risk management and verification, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) training, ICAM incident investigations and ISO safety management system accreditation.

She has a genuine passion for promoting positive holistic safety cultures, supporting organisations and individuals on their journey towards WHS excellence and is an advocate for Health and Safety Representatives.

Her role as a Training Specialist includes the delivery of accredited and non-accredited courses with a focus on safety, risk and auditing as well as supporting the service delivery capabilities of the Trainwest Safety Institute.

Biography

Neil is a devoted professional deeply immersed in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. His expertise is evident in his roles at Foundation Training Australia, Inspire Education, and Training Resources Group Inc., where he’s played a pivotal role in facilitating learning and assessments.

Through his engagement with these Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and VET Service Provider, Neil has amassed extensive experience in creating thorough training materials, conducting online training sessions, and offering mentorship and guidance to students during assessments. His dedication has consistently delivered quality education.

Across these experiences, Neil’s proactive approach, coupled with his commitment to quality education, highlights his capability in overseeing training and assessment. His diverse background, covering areas such as VET Training and Customer Service Training, reflects his adaptability across various training landscapes.

Biography

Gilbert is a licensed Mechanical Engineer with years of experience in Work Health and Safety in several different industries, including manufacturing, mining, power, water, and telecommunications.  He has more than 4 years of experience as a WHS Trainer and Assessor.

His role as a WHS Assessor is to provide guidance to students on their requirements of their assessments and complete all necessary assessment records of students, and ultimately, to empower students for them to contribute to making their workplace a safer workplace.

Gilbert was also the office Safety Officer and was an integral member of a small team that manages and responds to Covid-19 Cases at the workplace.

Taleah Hoffman

Biography

Taleah began working with the founding Directors, Michelle Munrowd-Harris and Ann Marie Wragg, at Trainwest’s inception before officially joining the team in 2009. Taleah’s journey with Trainwest has seen her undertake all roles within the business and grow her passion for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector before stepping into the General Manager role in 2021.

In addition, Taleah works very closely with the Third Party Arrangements team who project manage over 26 individual companies’ training programs spanning across multiple industries, particularly Resource and Infrastructure. With this experience Taleah has an in-depth understanding of training package requirements, development of learning resources and assessments and the designing and implementation of traineeship programs.

Taleah has celebrated many accomplishments at Trainwest including being an integral part of the Trainwest team who were nominated as finalists in the Small Training Provider of the Year awards in 2014 and 2015.

Biography

Camille joined Trainwest in 2022 as the Partnership and Quality Assurance Coordinator. Camille has been working in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector for nearly 20 years. Her roles include leadership and management, compliance and quality assurance, training and assessment, instructional design and consultancy.

Camille’s current role with Trainwest includes providing partnership support to her third party clients, and coordinating compliance and quality assurance activities across the organisation.

Angel Maturan

Biography

Angel joined the Trainwest Team in May 2024 as a Quality Assurance Administrator, supporting the Partnerships and Compliance department with all aspects of quality and compliance. Before her journey at Trainwest, she acquired work experience in the VET and RTO industries as a quality and compliance validator of training products.

Aside from this, Angel also has experience in coaching and leadership from her previous work role as a team lead for a small team of quality validators. She had helped her previous team meet performance benchmarks and given pieces of advice on their respective areas for improvement.

Additionally, Angel is a passionate learner. She is very eager to learn different aspects of the VET sector. She also loves the fact that her work could help a lot of students taking up and developing their skills. Angel hopes that the work she is doing is making a good impact on other people.

Damien has a strong passion for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector with extensive experience working with Trainwest.

His role as a Director includes the co-ordination and management of training operations including business strategy and compliance activities.

Damien has experience in designing, delivering and assessing nationally recognised training for his many clients who apply the knowledge and skills in a broad range of industries including construction, manufacturing, mining, health, hospitality and public safety.

He delivers Training and Assessment, Work Health and Safety, Project Management and Auditing courses.

Biography

Taffy joined the Trainwest Team in 2024 to become a Training Content Designer.

Taffy comes to Trainwest with several years’ experience as a Curriculum Developer and Instructional Designer, creating courses both for external and internal customers across different industries and sectors including community services, business, education, hospitality management and commercial cookery, construction, engineering, extraction industry including oil and mining, workplace health and safety, training and development, customer service and other soft skills.

Taffy has also have teaching and training experiences and has created and developed materials ranging from pre-K to adult learners.
Although she is not working on a training role at the moment, her real passion lies in teaching but this is demonstrated in the way she creates materials and resources, making it easier for both the trainer/assessors and the learners alike.
