The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment program is designed to reflect the roles of VET professionals who deliver training and assessment services.

Overview

The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment* qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

We are based in Perth and can deliver our course to wherever you are based in Australia. Trainwest deliver the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in locations across the Pilbara and Kimberley regions.

The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is a crucial qualification that impacts on the quality of delivery and assessment throughout the VET system. It is vital for the VET system that this qualification is delivered effectively by practitioners with vocational competency in training and assessment.

*This qualification has been superseded by TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. In line with the Trainwest enrolment policy, students have 12 months to complete their qualification (Trainwest can issue up to 7 December 2024 under the transition arrangement). Please note, in accordance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (2015), the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment meets the requirements to deliver and assess nationally accredited training.

Units

Entry requirements
Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.

This course is partially funded by the Department of Training and Workforce Development, Western Australia.

Entry requirements:
• Prospective students must have vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area
• Access to a laptop for the duration of the course
• Access to 8 people or more to deliver group based learning to

The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment facilitated by Trainwest contains the following units of competency:

 

Core Units:

  • TAEDES401 Design and develop learning programs
  • TAEDES402 Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
  • TAEDEL401 Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning programs
  • TAEDEL402 Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
  • TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes
  • TAEASS402 Assess competence
  • TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools

 

Elective Unit:

  • BSBCMM411 Make presentations

Delivery

Face To Face:
Face to face training for the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is delivered over thirteen days. The training is delivered in two clusters:

  1. Training
  2. Assessing

 

Each Cluster is required to be completed in order however attendance can be split over numerous courses. Trainwest recommends that you undertake the face to face component of the program over 6-12 months. You have up to 12 months to complete your assessments.

 

Cluster One – Group Delivery

  • BSBCMM411 Make presentations
  • TAEDEL401 Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning programs
  • TAEDES401 Design and develop learning programs
  • TAEDES402 Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
  • TAEDEL402 Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
  • TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills

Cluster Two – Assessing Process

  • TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes
  • TAEASS402 Assess competence
  • TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools

 

Locations:

  • Broome
  • Port Hedland
  • Karratha
  • Newman

 

Duration:
Students have up to 12 months to submit their assessments. Please be aware this is a maximum time frame and is greatly dependent on your current job role and pre-existing skills and abilities. You can submit your assessments at any time after attending the face to face component. The actual time for completion varies between students.

This qualification can be customised to suit your organisation and delivered in a flexible format to suit your workplace requirements. Contact Trainwest for more information.

 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
RPL is an assessment based pathway and is suitable for those who already have the skills and knowledge in one or more of the areas which make up this qualification and do not wish to undergo further training.

For those considering RPL please speak with the Trainwest Student Support team. The Student Support Team will make an initial assessment of suitability and discuss the RPL process before sending an application kit.

Regardless of the delivery mode in line with the AQF Volume of learning students have up to 24 months to complete and submit all assessment requirements.

 

Support Provided
Trainwest provides ongoing support to students throughout the duration of the program via email and telephone. We also offer post course support workshops at no additional charge which will provide students with the opportunity to have time away from the workplace to work on assessments with support from the Trainwest Trainer and Assessor.

Each student has access to 30 minutes one on one coaching free of charge. Additional one on one coaching is available at an hourly rate for those who need it.

*Please note the above fees are in accordance with the VET Fees and Charges Policy 2022 and the Lower Fees for Local Skills Invoices will be raised on days 5 and 13 of course attendance.
